Chameleon

Issue 23: Boot from RAID 0 fails

Reported by Miko K, Jun 17, 2010

I install Snow Leo on RAID 0 with two OCZ SSD Vertex Limited Edition
100 GB. Everything installs fine but when I try to boot, Chameleon
goes through 'boot0 done' and then hangs.

SL boots fine if Chameleon starts from another HD or memory stick
and I then select SL on RAID0! Everything also works great if I use
only one SSD HD. MB is DX58SO with i7 920 CPU with 6GB DD3 Corsair
1600 memory. No over-clocking.

Thanks for any idea how to solve the issue.

For me is working good, are you sure you have boot in the "Boot
OSX" hidden volume?

Miko, it could be the same problem I had, which ware related to how
DSDT enumerated the SATA drives.

What do you obtain from this command in Terminal
bless --folder '/Volumes/Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices'
--bootefi --setboot --verbose

This should tell you if the proper partitions (the ones called
"Boot OSX") are being "blessed".

bless does the same as selecting the partition in Startup
Disk.prefpane

I think I had the same issue as 'Me'. It is related to the
IORegistry plane that 'bless' uses, which is not the same as the
default one in IORegistryExplorer. Therefore everything looks fine
in IORegistryExplorer, when in fact 'bless' only sees one disk.

Fix is through DSDT (SATA device). Let me know if you need help with
that.
